David is fascinated by the potential of games, particularly role playing as a tool for facilitating and encouraging learning. He is also fascinated by the constraints and affordances of different games as tools for learning. Fortunately, he is ale to study games, write about games, teach about games, and make games for non-commercial purposes without starving. He is an assistant professor at RIT's School of Interactive Games and Media, and a founding member of Games, Learning, and Society group, the MAGIC center, and the Learning and Educational Games IGDA SIG. He is currently working on game assessment through an NSF funded SBIR phase 2 grant, and on creating a game for learning financial literacy through funding from Technology for Social Good, a philanthropic arm of JP Morgan Chase.
